Weston Park Farm

No-till arable, mob-grazing, #OurField; Hertfordshire

Weston Park is a 2,500 acre farm in hertfordshire run by the Cherry family. The team run a mob-grazing cattle herd who mimic the movement of the bison across the prairies by moving them to new grass each day. They are 100% grass-fed.

The team also do not till/plough, a practice adopted to decrease disturbance of the soil in order to preserve the soil microbiome. Each year they run the Groundswell Agricultural Conference to celebrate this and bring together old and new minds in the field.

Abi Aspen resides and has been working on her heritage/genetically diverse grain project here. She also tends the small market garden where some of our vegetables and herbs are sourced.

The #OurField project is also run from Weston where a collective co-own a field of spelt for a growing season.

Duchess Farms

Rapeseed Oil and heritage flour, Arable; Hertfordshire

In 2012 Oscar Harding saw an opportunity to make something out of the rapeseed that grows on his family's farm. That year Duchess Oil was born.

Then Max Ruddle came on board and the business bloomed. The duo retail oil all over London and Hertfordshire selling through the likes of Farmdrop, Foodchain and Natoora.

In 2018 Abi Aspen joined the mix to head up the grain and flour section. She finds heritage seed, grows them on the farm, mills them and sells the flour. Each year the farm turns a bit more arable land to low input grains.

Growing a variety of cereals, dabbling in old varieties and creating local business opportunities through the likes of horticulture, Duchess Farm is all about experimenting and exploring. The young team are open to new ideas in order to regenerate, rejuvenate and reimagine food and farming.
